FDC
was founded as a general surgery practice in 1945 by Drs.
Thomas Ferrell and Robert Duncan, with the express purpose
of providing Southwest Missouri residents with the absolute
best in medical care. As our practice has grown over the decades
we've remained true to that purpose, in part, by being highly
selective in recruiting new physicians to join us.
In the
1950s, a third and fourth doctor were added to the practice.
In the '60s we began to branch out with the hiring of our
first Internist. Soon after that, we added our first subspecialty,
Rheumatology. Additional subspecialties followed, including
Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and Pulmonology,
and as the practice continued to grow, so did our facilities.

In
the early '60s we moved from our original downtown offices to
a new, 8,000 square foot facility (pictured left). Yet even
that proved insufficient and over the next 20 years, that facility
was more than quadrupled in size to accommodate our growing
staff. Then, in 1986, the staff's 27 physicians made the decision
to move again--this time to a new 62,000 square foot facility
(below) on Springfield's prestigious Medical Mile. |

Grows...Up .
Today, that same 62,000 square foot facility has nearly tripled
in size. The original 3 story building has shot up to a 5
story facility encompassing 180,000 square feet, with comprehensive
on-site ancillary services,
administrative offices and a pharmacy. At the same time, our
staff of physicians has grown to approximately 100, practicing
in 20 specialties.
To be
sure, our heritage and current stature are matters of considerable
pride for us. But it is the future that truly captures
our attention. FDC is a dynamic and growing clinic. We're
seeking new physicians to join us as we continue to raise
the quality of medical care we offer.
Are you
prepared to thrive with us?
